Star Trek: The Original Series[/size]
Thanks to Gene Roddenberry, the American people got to see his "Star Trek" creature on the TV in 1966. It only aired for 3 seasons, but it was long enough to make many differences and also receive much praise and also: spin-offs.
Well known spin-offs are of course all the movies (11 so far), The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, Voyager & Enterprise.
The most important thing that changed history was that Gene let a black woman (in those days, the black & white race issue was still HOT!) get a position which normally, only while males could get. Nichelle Nichols was this woman. She portrayed Uhura in 68 episodes. Also, in this show, there was the first interracial kiss on the American TV: Nichelle Nicols & William Shatner shared a special moment. It got praise and it also brought on some heated discussions. But in the end, Gene got it right all the way!
All the seasons have been released on DVD already, and now, season 1 and 2 are also available on Blu-Ray. Season 3 is expected in a few months time.
